My friend Rick Doherty passed away. It is very difficult for me to share my memories of Rick. In my life he was more of a god than a human.
I met Rick in early Apple days. He was the editor of EE Times, and electrical engineering was my life. We would chat at technology shows. I was still very shy and it was hard for me to even chat with reporters, but Rick was real in his appreciation for things that I represented and was, than many who are more fake.

On April 1, Apple celebrated its 40th anniversary, marking four decades since Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and Ronald Wayne co-founded the company. To mark the occasion, Apple shared a 40th anniversary video, flew a pirate flag at its Cupertino headquarters, held a beer bash, and launched an Apple Music playlist filled with songs that have been used in past Apple advertising spots.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is well on his way to becoming a life-sized action figure. Not really, but we’re nerds, and that’s how we prefer to think of the prospect of Madame Tussauds’ waxperts immortalizing a person. Woz’s statue is set for an unveiling later this month, and the museum has published some great footage and pictures of the subject’s sitting, which included a lot of photographs and measurements as well as a healthy dose of green gloop.
